     Helen Forbes was the daughter of James Forbes and Katharine Bethune.2,1 She married Reverend John Makgill, son of James Makgill and Katherine Clephane, on 25 April 1647.1 She died on 20 July 1665.1
     From 25 April 1647, her married name became Makgill.

     Janet Ramsay was the daughter of John Ramsay of Brackmont and Margaret Bruce.2,1 She married Arthur Makgill, son of Reverend John Makgill and Helen Forbes, on 6 April 1675.1 She died on 8 April 1687.1
     From 6 April 1675, her married name became Makgill.

John Makgill1

     John Makgill was born on 13 June 1676.1 He was the son of Arthur Makgill and Janet Ramsay.2 He married Agnes Lindsay, daughter of John Lindsay and Margaret Haliburton, on 13 June 1706.1 He died on 19 April 1762 at age 85.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Viscount of Oxfuird [S., 1651] on 26 September 1747, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Makgill of Cousland [S., 1651] on 26 September 1747, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Makgill [N.S., 1627] on 26 September 1747, de jure.1 On 24 July 1751 he served heir to his cousin.1 He also had three daughters.1

     He was Captain Commandant of the a Scottish Regiment in Dutch service.1 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Makgill of Cousland [S., 1651] on 19 April 1762, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 6th Viscount of Oxfuird [S., 1651] on 19 April 1762, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Makgill [N.S., 1627] on 19 April 1762, de jure.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms as as heir male of Rankeillour, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court as heir male of Rankeillour in 1771.1

     George Makgill was born on 6 September 1723.1 He was the son of John Makgill and Agnes Lindsay.2 He married Agnes Law, daughter of Mungo Law and Janet Pilmore.1 He died on 26 August 1797 at age 73.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 12th Foot, British Army.1 He fought in the Battle of Preston, with the Jacobite Army.1 He fought in the Battle of Culloden, where he was wounded and narrowly escaped capture.1 He went to France and was eventually pardoned.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Makgill of Cousland [S., 1651] circa December 1777, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Makgill [N.S., 1627] circa December 1777, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount of Oxfuird [S., 1651] circa December 1777, de jure.1
