     Sir William Hotham was born on 12 February 1772.1 He was the son of General George Hotham and Diana Pennyman.2,1 He married, firstly, Anne Jeynes, daughter of Sir Edward Jeynes, in June 1804.1 He married, secondly, Jane Seymour Colman, daughter of Francis Colman, on 25 June 1835.1 He died on 31 May 1848 at age 76.1
     He gained the rank of Admiral of the Red.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)1
