Lt.-Col. Hugh Dillon Massy Minchin was born on 26 November 1857.1 He was the son of Reverend Henry Charles Minchin and Anne Jane Jones.2 He married Caroline Frances Stephens Loder, daughter of James Loder, on 5 September 1889.1 He died on 16 July 1904 at age 46,.1
