     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.1

     Aileen Agnes Carew was the daughter of Captain G. Carew.2 She married Commander William Charles Hotham, son of Reverend Edwin Hotham and Harriet Cotterell, on 21 June 1881.1 She died on 19 April 1884.1
     From 21 June 1881, her married name became Hotham.

Lt.-Col. John Clarence Hotham1

     Lt.-Col. John Clarence Hotham was born on 25 March 1882.1 He was the son of Commander William Charles Hotham and Aileen Agnes Carew.2 He married Margaret Emily Anne Wilmer, daughter of Horace Wilmer, on 23 June 1909.1 He died on 23 May 1959 at age 77.1
     He was educated at Eastbourne College, Eastbourne, Sussex, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He fought in the Afghan War in 1919.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army.1 He was Remount Purchasing Officer Calcutta between 1924 and 1927.1 He was officiating Director of Remounts Simla in 1931.1 He was commander of the 9th Cadet Battalion, Royal Hampshire Regiment between 1942 and 1951.1
