Major George Montagu Stopford was born on 23 June 1828.2 He was the son of Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir Montagu Stopford and Cordelia Winifreda Whitmore.2 He married Caroline Mary Burgoyne, daughter of Field Marshal Sir John Fox Burgoyne, 1st Bt., on 1 June 1854.2 He died on 7 August 1860 at age 32.2

Charlotte Mary Leycester Stopford was the daughter of Major George Montagu Stopford and Caroline Mary Burgoyne.1,2 She married, firstly, John Arden Birch, son of John William Birch and Julia Arden, on 23 February 1881.1 She married, secondly, Walter Buckley Barrington, 9th Viscount Barrington of Ardglass, son of Percy Barrington, 8th Viscount Barrington of Ardglass and Louisa Higgins, on 19 January 1905.1 She died on 22 October 1935.1 She was buried on 25 October 1935 at Shrivenham, Berkshire, England.1
