     Brigadier Charles Deane Steel was the son of Dr. Gerard Steel.¹ He married Elizabeth Chenevix Trench, daughter of Colonel Lawrence Chenevix Trench and Winifred Ross Tootal, on 9 April 1932.¹
     He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)¹ He lived at Little Hall, Nettlebed, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Royal Engineers.¹

     Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir Montagu Stopford was born on 11 November 1798.² He was the son of James George Stopford, 3rd Earl of Courtown and Lady Mary Scott.² He married, firstly, Cordelia Winifreda Whitmore, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir George Whitmore and Cordelia Ainslie, on 25 August 1827.² He married, secondly, Lucy Cay, daughter of John Cay and Emily Bullock, on 29 September 1853.² He was also reported to have been married on 22 August 1827.³ He died on 10 November 1864 at age 65.²
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)¹ Vice-Admiral.¹

     Lucy Cay was born on 2 December 1829 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.² She was the daughter of John Cay and Emily Bullock.^1,2 She married Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir Montagu Stopford, son of James George Stopford, 3rd Earl of Courtown and Lady Mary Scott, on 29 September 1853.¹ She died on 3 December 1883 at age 54.¹
     Her married name became Stopford.

     John Cay was born on 31 August 1790.² He married Emily Bullock on 24 May 1819 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.²
     He lived at North Charlton, Northumberland, England^G.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Linlithgow.²

     Cordelia Winifreda Whitmore was born on 27 February 1804.² She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir George Whitmore and Cordelia Ainslie.^1,2 She married Vice-Admiral Hon. Sir Montagu Stopford, son of James George Stopford, 3rd Earl of Courtown and Lady Mary Scott, on 25 August 1827.¹ She was also reported to have been married on 22 August 1827.² She died on 4 September 1851 at age 47.¹
     Her married name became Stopford.

     Maj.-Gen. Sir George Whitmore was born on 12 May 1775.² He is the son of George Whitmore and Mary Wall.² He married Cordelia Ainslie, daughter of George Ainslie, on 16 January 1798.² He died on 2 April 1862 at age 86.²
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Hanoverian Order (K.C.H.)² He was Colonel Commandant of the Royal Engineers.² He lived at Lower Slaughter, Gloucestershire, England.²

     Lady Jane Stopford was the daughter of James George Stopford, 3rd Earl of Courtown and Lady Mary Scott.¹ She married Reverend Abel John Ram on 11 April 1833.¹ She died on 28 December 1873.¹
     Her married name became Ram.

     Reverend Frederick Manners Stopford was born on 1 November 1831.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Edward Stopford and Horatia Charlotte Lockwood.¹ He married, firstly, Florence Augusta Saunders, daughter of Charles Alexander Saunders, on 8 June 1857.¹ He married, secondly, Caroline Louisa Saunders, daughter of Very Rev. Augustus Page Saunders, on 7 November 1878.¹ He died on 24 February 1912 at age 80.¹
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was the Rector between 1861 and 1912 at Tichmarsh, Northamptonshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Chaplain-in-Ordinary to HM Queen Victoria.¹ He held the office of Honorary Chaplain to HM King Edward VII between 1901 and 1910.¹ He held the office of Honorary Chaplain to HM King George V between 1910 and 1912.¹

     Florence Augusta Saunders was the daughter of Charles Alexander Saunders.¹ She married Reverend Frederick Manners Stopford, son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Edward Stopford and Horatia Charlotte Lockwood, on 8 June 1857.¹ She died on 18 August 1876.¹
