     Charles Maitland was born on 13 December 1848.¹ He was the son of Rear-Admiral Lewis Maitland and Henrietta Louisa Newbolt.² He died in November 1849.¹

     Archibald Finnie Allan was born circa 1810.² He married Elizabeth Providence Durie, daughter of Robert Durie of Craigluscar and Joanna Anne Taylor, on 29 October 1833 at St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.^3,2
     He was also known as Archibald Finnie Allen.³

     Mary Allan was born on 25 February 1845 at Cramond, Midlothian, Scotland.^2,3 She was the daughter of Archibald Finnie Allan and Elizabeth Providence Durie.² She married Rear-Admiral Lewis Maitland, son of Charles Maitland and Mary Johnston, on 24 March 1869.¹ She died on 10 February 1911 at age 65.¹
     She was also known as Mary Allen.² From 24 March 1869, her married name became Maitland.
