     Major Arthur John French was born on 31 January 1934.3 He is the son of Lt.-Col. George Arthur French and Katherine Lorne Heriot-Maitland.2,1 He married Eve Diana Heriot-Maitland-Dougall, daughter of Colonel Wilmot Edward Heriot-Maitland-Dougall and Mary Louisa Schreiber, on 23 May 1959.1 He and Eve Diana Heriot-Maitland-Dougall were divorced in 1977.1
