     James Maitland-Heriot was born on 11 September 1774.1 He was the son of Captain Hon. Frederick Lewis Maitland of Rankeillour and Margaret Dick.2 He married Margaret Dalgleish, daughter of William Dalgleish and Jane Isabel Ogilvy, on 31 December 1813.1 He died on 26 April 1848 at age 73.1
     He was given the name of James Maitland at birth.1 He was a practising Writer to the Signet (W.S.)1

     Margaret Dalgleish was born in 1796.2 She was the daughter of William Dalgleish and Jane Isabel Ogilvy.3,4 She married James Maitland-Heriot, son of Captain Hon. Frederick Lewis Maitland of Rankeillour and Margaret Dick, on 31 December 1813.1 She died on 28 January 1869.1
     From 31 December 1813, her married name became Maitland-Heriot.1

     William Dalgleish was born in 1770.2 He married Jane Isabel Ogilvy, daughter of Archibald Ogilvy of Inchmartine, on 11 September 1792.2 He died on 1 August 1824.2
     He lived at Scotscraig, Fife, ScotlandG.1
