Christopher Bethell-Codrington1

     Christopher Bethell-Codrington was born in October 1764.2 He was the son of Edward Codrington and Rebecca le Sturgeon.2 He married Hon. Caroline Georgina Harriet Foley, daughter of Thomas Foley, 2nd Baron Foley of Kidderminster and Lady Henrietta Stanhope, on 16 August 1796.2 He died on 4 February 1843 at age 78.
     He was given the name of Christopher Codrington at birth.2 On 17 November 1797 his name was legally changed to Christopher Bethell-Codrington by Royal Licence.2 He lived at Dodington Park, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.2

William John Bethell1

     William John Bethell was born in November 1768.1 He was the son of Edward Codrington and Rebecca le Sturgeon.2 He married Anna Maria Chaloner, daughter of William Chaloner and Emma Harvey.1
     He was given the name of William John Codrington at birth.1 On 12 March 1798 his name was legally changed to William John Bethell by Royal Licence.1

     William Chaloner was born on 14 August 1745.2 He was the son of William Chaloner and Mary Finny.2 He married Emma Harvey, daughter of William Harvey, on 8 August 1771.2 He died on 8 May 1793 at age 47.2

Anna Maria Chaloner1

     Anna Maria Chaloner was born on 22 August 1780.2 She was the daughter of William Chaloner and Emma Harvey.2 She married William John Bethell, son of Edward Codrington and Rebecca le Sturgeon.1 She died on 7 December 1861 at age 81.1
     Her married name became Bethell.1

Admiral Sir Edward Codrington1

     Admiral Sir Edward Codrington was born on 27 April 1770.1 He was the son of Edward Codrington and Rebecca le Sturgeon.2 He married Jane Hall, daughter of Jasper Hall, on 27 December 1802.1 He died on 28 April 1851 at age 81.1
     He gained the rank of Admiral of the Blue.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)1 He fought in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, in command H.M.S. Orion.1 He fought in the Battle of Navarino in 1827, in command of the Allied fleets.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of St. Lazarus.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of St. George of Greece.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Devonport between 1832 and 1839.1 He had another son and two other daughters.1

     Jane Hall was the daughter of Jasper Hall.2 She married Admiral Sir Edward Codrington, son of Edward Codrington and Rebecca le Sturgeon, on 27 December 1802.1 She died on 21 January 1837.1
     From 27 December 1802, her married name became Codrington.

General Sir William John Codrington1

     General Sir William John Codrington was born on 26 November 1804.1 He was the son of Admiral Sir Edward Codrington and Jane Hall.2 He married Mary Ames, daughter of Levi Ames, on 7 May 1836.1 He died on 6 August 1884 at age 79.1
     He fought in the Crimean War in 1855.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the British forces in the Crimea in 1855.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Coldstream Guards.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Greenwich between 1857 and 1859.1 He held the office of Governor of Gibraltar between 1859 and 1865.1

     Mary Ames was the daughter of Levi Ames.2 She married General Sir William John Codrington, son of Admiral Sir Edward Codrington and Jane Hall, on 7 May 1836.1 She died on 28 June 1898.1
     She held the office of Woman of the Bedchamber to HM Queen Victoria.1 She was appointed Lady, Royal Order of Victoria and Albert (V.A.)1 From 7 May 1836, her married name became Codrington.
