Lieutenant Thomas Beattie Grierson was born on 11 October 1826 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Grierson and Jane Beattie.1 He died on 4 September 1857 at age 30 at Umballa, East Indies, from a fever.1,2
