Tormod MacLeod, 12th of MacLeod was the son of Alasdair 'Crottach' MacLeod, 8th of MacLeod and unknown daughter Cameron.2 He married Lady Janet Campbell.3 He married Jill Maclean, daughter of Hector 'Mor' Maclean, 8th of Duart and Morven and Mary Macdonald.3 He died in 1585.3
In 1559 returned from France in and was recognised as Chief. Ian Dubh fled to Ireland, where he was murdered.3

Sir Roderick Macleod of Macleod, 15th Chief was the son of Tormod MacLeod, 12th of MacLeod and Jill Maclean.2 He married Isabel Macdonell, daughter of Donald Macdonell 8th of Glengarry, in 1598.3 He died in 1626.3
He was extended the Royal authority there.3 Visited the King in England and was ktd.3 He was also known as Rory 'Mor'.3 Engaged in warfare in Ireland against the English, and in a war against his brother-in-law, Donald Gorm Macdonald 7th of Sleat.3 In 1609 as one of the leading W Highland chiefs, was a signatory of the statutes of Icolmkil , under which Bp Andrew Knox, apptd Steward of the Isles by JAMES VI.3 In 1623 recd Freedom of Edinburgh.3
