Edward Gordon Douglas-Pennant, 1st Baron Penrhyn of Llandegai was born on 20 June 1800 at York, Yorkshire, England.2 He was the son of Hon. John Douglas and Lady Frances Lascelles.3 He married, firstly, Juliana Isabella Mary Pennant, daughter of George Hay Dawkins-Pennant and Hon. Sophia Maria Maude, on 6 August 1833.1 He married, secondly, Lady Maria Louisa FitzRoy, daughter of Henry FitzRoy, 5th Duke of Grafton and Mary Caroline Berkeley, on 26 January 1846.4 He died on 31 March 1886 at age 85.5

(Whig, later (from ) self-professed ‘Liberal' at a time when the term was not in general use as a party label, being in favour of abolishing the slave trade and relaxing both the penal regime and the game laws) Yarmouth circa 1819.2
