She was the daughter of Sir Mark John McTaggart-Stewart, 1st Bt. and Marianne Susanna Ommaney.1 She married, firstly, Archibald Patrick Thomas Borthwick, 20th Lord Borthwick, son of Cunninghame Borthwick, 19th Lord Borthwick and Harriet Alice Day, on 18 July 1901 at Ardwell, Wigtownshire, Scotland.1 She married, secondly, Alfred William Maitland FitzRoy, 8th Duke of Grafton, son of Lt.-Col. Augustus Charles Lennox FitzRoy, 7th Duke of Grafton and Anna Balfour, on 8 January 1916.2 She died on 3 October 1961 at age 83.3
As a result of her marriage, Susanna Mary McTaggart-Stewart was styled as Baroness Borthwick on 18 July 1901. From 18 July 1901, her married name became Borthwick.1 From 8 January 1916, her married name became Fitzroy.2 She was decorated with the award of Order of Mercy (with bar).4 As a result of her marriage, Susanna Mary McTaggart-Stewart was styled as Duchess of Grafton on 4 December 1918.
