She and Sir Horace Anthony Claud Rumbold, 10th Bt. were divorced in 1974.1 She died in 1984.1

     James Lyle Mackay, 1st Earl of Inchcape was born on 11 September 1852.1 He was the son of James Mackay and Deborah Lyle.1 He married Jean Paterson Shanks, daughter of James Shanks, on 10 July 1883.1 He died on 23 May 1932 at age 79.1
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1890.1 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [Viceroy of India] between 1891 and 1893.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Calcutta in 1892.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E.) in 1894.1 He was member of the Council of the Secretary of of State, India between 1897 and 1911.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Ayrshire.1 He was partner of Mackinnon, Mackenzie & Company.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1902.1 He was vice-president of the Suez Canal Company in 1910.1 He was chairman and managing director of P&O and British India Steam Navigation.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.) in 1910.1 He was created 1st Baron Inchcape, of Strathnaver, co.
