     Walter Garrison Runciman, 3rd Viscount Runciman of Doxford was born on 10 November 1934.2 He was the son of Walter Leslie Runciman, 2nd Viscount of Runciman of Doxford and Katherine Schuyler Garrison.2 He married Ruth Hellman, daughter of Joseph Hellman and Dr. Ellen Kaumheimer, on 17 April 1963.2 He died on 10 December 2020 at age 86.3
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Grenadier Guards.2 He wrote the book Plato's Later Epistemology, published 1962.2 He wrote the book Social Science and Political Theory, published 1963.2 He wrote the book Relative Deprivation and Social Justice, published 1966.2 He was appointed Fellow, British Academy (F.B.A.) in 1975.1 He was chairmam of Walter Runciman Ltd between 1976 and 1990.2 He wrote the book A Treatise on Social Theory, published between 1983 and 1997.1 He was president of the General Council of British Shipping between 1986 and 1987.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1987.2 He wrote the book Confessions of a Reluctant Theorist, published 1989.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Runciman, of Shoreston, co.      She was educated at Rodean School, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa.2 She graduated from Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 From 1959, her married name became Smith.2 She graduated from Girton College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 From 17 April 1963, her married name became Runciman.
