     Lt.-Gen. Hay Macdowall was born on 12 November 1759.¹ He was the son of William Macdowall, 18th of Garthland and 2nd of Castlesemple and Elizabeth 'Black Bess' Graham.² He died in 1809, lost at sea returning from India.²
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1805.¹ He held the office of Commander-in-Chief of Madras.¹

     Thomas Drake married Dorothy Spring, daughter of Sir William Spring and Elizabeth Smith.¹
     He lived at London, England^G.¹

     Colonel Alexander Grant, 4th of Arndilly was the son of Thomas Grant of Arndilly and Achoynanie and Jean Sutherland.² He married Eleanor Frances Murray, daughter of William Murray of Leveland and Helen Walkinshaw, on 18 September 1769.² He died in August 1779.²
     He lived at Arndilly, Banffshire, Scotland^G.³

     Eleanor Mary Grant was born on 28 October 1771.² She was the daughter of Colonel Alexander Grant, 4th of Arndilly and Eleanor Frances Murray.^3,2 She was baptised on 30 October 1771 at Boharm, Morayshire, Scotland.² She married David Macdowall, son of William Macdowall, 18th of Garthland and 2nd of Castlesemple and Elizabeth 'Black Bess' Graham, in 1790.¹ She died in 1832.¹
     She was also known as Mary Eleanora Grant.² From 1790, her married name became Macdowall.

     Lt.-Gen. Duncan Campbell, 8th of Lochnell was born in 1763.¹ He was the son of Colonel Dugald Campbell of Ballimore. He married, firstly, Hon. Eleanora Fraser, daughter of George Fraser, 15th Lord Saltoun of Abernethy and Helen Gordon, on 6 July 1792.² He and Hon. Eleanora Fraser were divorced in 1808.¹ He married, secondly, Augusta Murray, daughter of Sir William Murray of Ochtertyre, 5th Bt. and Augusta Mackenzie, on 14 May 1808.¹ He died on 9 April 1837.³

     Elizabeth le Strange is the daughter of Sir Hamon le Strange and Alice Stubbe.¹ She married Sir William Spring, 1st Bt., son of Sir William Spring and Elizabeth Smith.¹
     Her married name became Spring.¹

     Augusta Murray was the daughter of Sir William Murray of Ochtertyre, 5th Bt. and Augusta Mackenzie.² She married Lt.-Gen. Duncan Campbell, 8th of Lochnell, son of Colonel Dugald Campbell of Ballimore, on 14 May 1808.¹ She died in 1846.¹
     From 14 May 1808, her married name became Campbell.¹
