Rev. Sir Henry John Ingilby, 1st Bt. was born on 28 January 1790.2 He was the son of Reverend Henry Ingilby and Isabella Jane Bates.3 He married Elizabeth Macdowall, daughter of Day Hort Macdowall and Wilhelmina Graham, on 19 August 1824.1 He died on 4 July 1870 at age 80.2
He inherited the estates of Sir William Amcotts Ingilby, 2nd and last Bt.2 He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was created 1st Baronet Ingilby, of Ripley, in the West Riding of the County of York [U.K.] on 26 July 1866.2
