George Livingstone, 3rd Earl of Linlithgow

     George Livingstone, 3rd Earl of Linlithgow was born in July 1616. He was the son of Alexander Livingstone, 2nd Earl of Linlithgow and Lady Elizabeth Gordon. He married Lady Elizabeth Maule, daughter of Patrick Maule, 1st Earl of Panmure and Frances Stanhope, on 30 July 1650. He died on 1 February 1690 at age 73.
     He gained the title of 3rd Earl of Linlithgow.

     Lady Elizabeth Lyon was the daughter of John Lyon, 2nd Earl of Kinghorne and Lady Elizabeth Maule.1 A contract for the marriage of Lady Elizabeth Lyon and Charles Gordon, 1st Earl of Aboyne was signed on 28 August 1665.1 She died in March 1681.2
     After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Lyon was styled as Countess of Aboyne on 28 August 1665. From 28 August 1665, her married name became Gordon.

     Charles Gordon, 1st Earl of Aboyne was the son of George Gordon, 2nd Marquess of Huntly and Lady Anne Campbell.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Irvine, daughter of Sir Alexander Irvine, 10th of Drum and Magdalene Scrymgeour, before 1662.1 He married by contract, secondly, Lady Elizabeth Lyon, daughter of John Lyon, 2nd Earl of Kinghorne and Lady Elizabeth Maule, on 28 August 1665.1 He died in March 1681.2
     He was styled as Lord Gordon.1 He was created 1st Lord Gordon of Strathavon and Glenlivet [Scotland] on 10 September 1660.1 He was created 1st Earl of Aboyne [Scotland] on 10 September 1660, for adhering firmly to the Royal cause during the Civil War.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3
