     Colonel Robert William Pigott Clarke Campbell-Preston of Ardchattan was born on 17 June 1865.2 He was the son of Reverend William Clarke Preston, 13th of Valleyfield and Anne Charity Piggot.2 He married Mary Augusta Margaret Nicol Thorne, daughter of Augustus Thorne and Mary Frances Nicol, on 1 June 1905 at Ardchattan Prior, Bonawe, Argyllshire, Scotland.2 He died on 27 October 1929 at age 64.2
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)3 He lived at Ardhatten Priory, Connel, Argyllshire, ScotlandG.1 He was given the name of Robert William Piggot Clarke Preston at birth.2
