     Henry Brougham Loch, 1st Baron Loch was born on 23 May 1827. He was the son of James Loch and Ann Orr.1 He married Elizabeth Villiers, daughter of Hon. Edward Ernest Villiers and Hon. Elizabeth Charlotte Liddell, on 7 May 1862.2 He died on 20 June 1900 at age 73.
     He gained the title of 1st Baron Loch. He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of the Isle of Man. He held the office of Governor of Victoria. He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.)2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)2 He held the office of High Commissioner of the South Africa. He raised Loch's Horse for service in the Boer War.3
