     John St. Clair of Herdmandston and Polwarth was the son of Sir John St. Clair of Herdmanston and Isobel (?)2 He married Katherine Home, daughter of Alexander Home, 1st Lord Home and Marion Lauder.1 He died before 20 December 1466.1

     On 10 August 1471 he settled litigation with his nieces by his getting Herdmanstone and his nieces Polwarth and Kimmeringhame.1

John St. Clair of Herdmanston1

     John St. Clair of Herdmanston was the son of Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston.2 He married Marion Cockburn.1 He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England, killed in action.1
     In 1481 he had sasine of his lands.1 On 20 April 1505 he had a new Charter under the Great Seal of Herdmanston.1 He fought in the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513.1 He had two other lawful sons and two illegitimate sons.1
