     Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston is the son of John St. Clair of Herdmanston and Marion Cockburn.2 He married Beatrix Renton, daughter of David Renton of Billie.1
     On 25 October 1513 he had sasine of his inheritance.1 He also had two daughters.1

     Beatrix Renton is the daughter of David Renton of Billie.2 She married, firstly, Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston, son of John St. Clair of Herdmanston and Marion Cockburn.1 She and William Crichton of Drylaw were divorced due to her adultery with her husband's brother, James.3 She married, secondly, William Crichton of Drylaw, son of unknown Crichton.3 She married, thirdly, Edward Sinclair, 4th of Dryden, son of Sir John Sinclair, 3rd of Dryden and Katherine Ramsay, before 1539.3
     Her married name became St. Clair. Her married name became Crichton.3 From before 1539, her married name became Sinclair.3

     John St. Clair of Herdmanston was the son of Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston and Beatrix Renton.2 He married Margaret Sinclair.1 He died before 12 January 1565/66.1
     On 27 June 1545 he had charter under the Great Seal.1 He had three other sons and four daughters.1

Sir William St. Clair of Hermanstoun1

     Sir William St. Clair of Hermanstoun was the son of John St. Clair of Herdmanston and Margaret Sinclair.2 A contract for the marriage of Sir William St. Clair of Hermanstoun and Sibyl Cockburn was signed on 10 September 1583.1 He died on 2 June 1594.3
     In April 1569 he was served heir to his father.1 In 1582 he was implicated in the Ruthven Raid.1

     On 5 August 1594 he was served heir to his father.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Haddington in 1615.1 He had two other sons.1
