     Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston was the son of John St. Clair of Herdmanston and Elizabeth Polwarth.² He married Margaret (?)¹ He died after January 1413.³
     On 29 January 1401 he had a charter of confirmation in his lands from Archibald, 4th Earl of Douglas.¹ He fought in the Holildon Hill in 1402, where he was taken prisoner by the English.¹

     Margaret (?) married Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston, son of John St. Clair of Herdmanston and Elizabeth Polwarth.¹
     Her married name became St. Clair.

     Sir John St. Clair of Herdmanston is the son of Sir William St. Clair of Herdmanston and Margaret (?)² He married Isobel (?)¹ He died on 20 December 1466.³
     In 1437 he was infeft in his lands as heir of his father.¹ In 1444 he had sasine of (territorial) Barony of Polwarth.¹ He had three other sons.¹
