     Colonel Walter Bentley Marling was born on 4 April 1854.1 He was the son of Sir Samuel Stephens Marling, 1st Bt. and Margaret Williams Cartwright.2 He married Mary Isabella Cunynghame Baker, daughter of Colonel Robert Broome Baker, on 3 August 1880.1 He died on 28 January 1941 at age 86.1
     He gained the rank of Captain and Adjutant in the 1st Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 4th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Monmouthshire.1 He lived at Domus, Broadstairs, Kent, England.1

     Mary Isabella Cunynghame Baker was the daughter of Colonel Robert Broome Baker.2 She married Colonel Walter Bentley Marling, son of Sir Samuel Stephens Marling, 1st Bt. and Margaret Williams Cartwright, on 3 August 1880.1 She died on 14 September 1933.1
     From 3 August 1880, her married name became Marling.
