     Major Donald Stapleton Carden is the son of Reginald William Carden.1 He married Gertrude Annesley West, daughter of Lt.-Col. Richard Annesley West, V.C. and Maud Ethel Cushing, on 6 August 1938.1
     He had one son.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Leicestershire Regiment.1
