     Lt.-Col. Hon. George Thomas Maitland was born on 23 December 1841.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Frederick Colthurst Maitland and Ann Deering Williams.1 He died on 23 September 1910 at age 68, unmarried.1
     On 29 August 1885 he was granted the rank of an earl's younger son.1 He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Bengal Staff Corps.1
