     Colonel Hubert Francis Burke was born on 8 October 1880.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Walter St. George Burke and Mary Ann Amy Macrae Cockburn.2 He married Edith Jane Denton, daughter of Charles Ashpital Denton, on 9 May 1916.1 He died on 26 November 1956 at age 76,.1
     Colonel Hubert Francis Burke was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He was he served in the Aden Hinterland between 1903 and 1904.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1915.1 He was decorated with the award of Croix de Guerre.1 He was Deputy Assistant Director of Artillery, War Office in 1919.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Royal Artillery.1
