     Dugald Stewart of Catrine was born on 22 November 1753 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He was the son of Matthew Stewart and Marjory Stewart.2 He married Helen D'Arcy Cranstoun, daughter of Hon. George Cranstoun and Maria Brisbane, on 26 July 1790.1
     He was a philosopher.2 He was Professor of Moral Philosophy at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3

Emily Frances Heathcote1

     Emily Frances Heathcote was the daughter of Reverend Robert Boothby Heathcote and Elizabeth Bridget Wells.1,2 She married Robert Thornhagh Gurdon, 1st Baron Cranworth of Letton and Cranworth, son of Brampton Gurdon and Hon. Henrietta Susannah Ridley-Colborne, on 27 July 1874.1 She died on 3 April 1934.1
     From 27 July 1874, her married name became Gurdon.1 After her marriage, Emily Frances Heathcote was styled as Baroness Cranworth of Letton and Cranworth on 28 January 1899.

     Major Charles Stirling was born on 1 March 1871 at Aldershot, Hampshire, England.2,3 He was the son of General Sir William Stirling and Anna Christian Stirling.1,2 He married Hon. Amy Harriott Gurdon, daughter of Robert Thornhagh Gurdon, 1st Baron Cranworth of Letton and Cranworth and Harriott Ellin Miles, on 22 August 1905.1 He died on 19 November 1914 at age 43.1
     He fought in the Boer War.2 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Horse Artillery.1
