Brampton Dillingham1

     Brampton Dillingham was the son of Thornhagh Gurdon and Sarah Dillingham.2 He married, firstly, Mary Bedingfeld, daughter of Philip Bedingfeld and Mary Bacon.1 He married, secondly, Mary Howard, daughter of Samuel Howard.1 He died in 1820, having by her had a daughter (Mary, married 4 May 1810 William Frere, DCL, Serjeant-at-Law and Master Downing College Cambridge (d 25 May 1836), 5th s of John Frere, JP, FRS, FSA, of Roydon Hall, Norfolk (see BLG 1969), and died 4 May 1864).1
     He lived at Grundisburgh, Suffolk, EnglandG.1 He lived at Letton, Norfolk, EnglandG.1 He was given the name of Brampton Gurdon at birth.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1789.1 He also had three sons by his first wife.1

     Anne Mellish was the daughter of William Mellish and Anne Gore.2,3 She married Lt.-Col. Theophilus Thornhagh Gurdon, son of Brampton Dillingham and Mary Bedingfeld, on 25 July 1796.1 She died on 23 December 1850.1
     From 25 July 1796, her married name became Gurdon.
