     Sir Francis Thornhagh was born in 1617.2 He was the son of Francis Thornhagh and Jane Jackson.2 He died in 1648, killed in action.2

     Mary Jane Moon was the daughter of Robert Moon.2 She married Walter Knight Shirley, 11th Earl Ferrers, son of Reverend Walter Waddington Shirley and Philippa Frances Emilia Knight, on 9 July 1890.1 She died on 10 January 1944.1
     From 9 July 1890, her married name became Shirley. As a result of her marriage, Mary Jane Moon was styled as Countess Ferrers on 26 July 1912.

     Hon. Andrew Shirley was born on 29 December 1900.1 He was the son of Walter Knight Shirley, 11th Earl Ferrers and Mary Jane Moon.2 He married Ethel Muriel Lewis, daughter of John Henry David Ellis Lewis, on 30 April 1927.1 He died on 20 June 1958 at age 57.1
     Hon. Andrew Shirley was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1922 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was Assistant Keeper of the Fine Art Department Oxford between 1925 and 1929 at Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1926 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was manager of the Times Book Club between 1939 and 1950.1
