     Sir William Henry Proby, 3rd Bt. was born on 13 June 1949.2 He is the son of Sir Peter Proby, 2nd Bt. and Blanche Harrison Cripps.3 He married Meredyth Anne Brentnall, daughter of Dr. Timothy David Brentnall, in 1974.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He graduated from Lincoln College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was educated at Brooksby College of Agriculture, Brooksby, Leicestershire, England.2 He was chairman of the Historic Houses Association Taxation Commission between 1986 and 1994.2 He was deputy president of the Historic Houses Association Taxation Commission between 1988 and 1993.2 He was president of the Historic Houses Association Taxation Commission between 1993 and 1998.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Cambridgeshire in 1995.2 He was a member of the Advisory Council of Tate Britain.2 He was appointed Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants (F.C.A.)2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire between 2001 and 2002.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Proby, of Elton Hall, co.
