     Captain Harold Christian was born in 1867 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Admiral Henry Christian and Emily Margaret Moore.1 He married Harriet Smith.1 He died on 12 November 1917 at Charing Cross Hospital, London, EnglandG, from injuries received after being knocked down by a car.1
     He was commissioned on 10 January 1883 with the rank of Cadet, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Midshipman on 12 August 1885.1 He gained the rank of Acting Sub-Lieutenant on 4 July 1887.1 He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 31 December 1888.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 3 January 1891.1 He gained the rank of Commander on 1 January 1902.1 He gained the rank of Captain between 1909 and 1913.1 He was Director of the Chinese Naval Training College between 1913 and 1916 at Shanghai, ChinaG.1 He was captain of the H.M.S. Sappho.1

     Emily Susan Christian was born in 1866 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 She was the daughter of Admiral Henry Christian and Emily Margaret Moore.1 She married William Frederick Hicks-Beach, son of Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, 8th Bt. and Harriett Vittoria Stratton, on 25 November 1903.2,3 She died on 17 November 1958, without issue.2
     From 25 November 1903, her married name became Hicks-Beach.1 She wrote the book The Yesterdays Behind the Door, published 1956, a major chronicle of the Christian family.1 She also published a number of biographies and novels.1

William Frederick Hicks-Beach1

     William Frederick Hicks-Beach was born on 16 July 1841 at Whitcombe Park, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1,2 He was the son of Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, 8th Bt. and Harriett Vittoria Stratton.1,2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Caroline Tyrwhitt-Drake, daughter of Thomas Tyrwhitt-Drake and Elizabeth Julia Stratton, on 5 July 1865.2 He married, secondly, Emily Susan Christian, daughter of Admiral Henry Christian and Emily Margaret Moore, on 25 November 1903.3,4 He died on 7 September 1923 at age 82.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tewkesbury between 1916 and 1918.5 He lived at Whitcombe Park, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.5
