Brig.-Gen. Gerard Christian was born on 2 June 1867.1 He was the son of Alfred Christian and Frances Emily Hall.1 He married Evelyne Hilliard, daughter of T. E. B. Hilliard, on 16 September 1913.2 He died on 2 January 1930 at age 62, without issue.2
Brig.-Gen. Gerard Christian was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.2 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1912 in the service of the 19th Yorkshire Regiment.2 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1916.2 He was decorated with the award of Order of the White Eagle.2 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1919.2 He retired from the military in 1920, with the rank of Brigadier-General.2
