     Karl August Großherzog von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach was born on 3 September 1757 at Blanckenhain, GermanyG.1 He was the son of Ernst August II Konstantin Herzog von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach and Anne Amalie Herzogin von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel.1 He married Luise Auguste Prinzessin von Hessen-Darmstadt, daughter of Ludwig IX Landgraf von Hessen-Darmstadt and Karoline Henriette Christina Louisa Pfalzgräfin von Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld, on 3 October 1775 at Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemburg, Germany.1 He died on 14 June 1828 at age 70 at GraditzG.1
     He succeeded as the Herzog Karl August von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach (styled as Reigning Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach) on 28 May 1758.1 He was created Großherzog Karl August von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach (styled as Reigning Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach) on 21 April 1815.1
