Sir John Poyntz was born circa 1560.3 He was the son of Sir Nicholas Poyntz and Anne Verney.2 He married, firstly, Ursula Sydenham, daughter of Sir John Sydenham.4 He married, thirdly, Frances Newton, daughter of John Newton.4 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Sydenham, daughter of Alexander Sydenham.3 He married, fourthly, Grissell Roberts, daughter of Walter Roberts, on 2 June 1600.3 He died circa November 1633.5 He was buried on 29 November 1633.5
