James Dundas, 12th of Dundas was the son of James Dundas of Dundas.2 He married Elizabeth Livingston, daughter of Sir Alexander Livingston of Callendar and Janet Dundas.1 He died before 1452, without issue.1
He was imprisoned in Dumbarton Castle, and his lands confiscated.1 He was a supporter of King James II.1 He held the position of 12th Chief of the Name and Arms of Dundas from in 1431.1
