Rear Admiral Hon. Horace Lambert Alexander Hood was born on 2 October 1870.1 He was the son of Francis Wheler Hood, 4th Viscount Hood of Whitley and Edith Lydia Drummond Ward.2 He married Ellen Touzalin, daughter of A. E. Touzalin, on 19 January 1910.1 He died on 31 May 1916 at age 45, killed in action.1
He was commissioned in 1883, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in 1889.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1890.1 He fought in the Nile Campaign between 1897 and 1898, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Commander in 1898.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1903.1 He fought in the Somaliland Campaign between 1903 and 1904, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V between 1912 and 1913.1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1913.1 He was Admiral of the Dover Patrol in 1914.1 He was Naval Secretary to the 1st Lord of the Admiralty in 1914.1 He was Admiral of the 3rd Battle Cruiser in 1915.1 He fought in the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916.1

Ellen Touzalin was the daughter of A. E. Touzalin. She married, firstly, George Augustus Nickerson before 1910.1 She married, secondly, Rear Admiral Hon. Horace Lambert Alexander Hood, son of Francis Wheler Hood, 4th Viscount Hood of Whitley and Edith Lydia Drummond Ward, on 19 January 1910.1 She died on 1 October 1950.1
