Archibald Acheson, 3rd Earl of Gosford was born on 20 August 1806 at Markethill, Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland.2 He was the son of Archibald Acheson, 2nd Earl of Gosford and Mary Sparrow.1 He married Lady Theodosia Brabazon, daughter of John Chambré Brabazon, 10th Earl of Meath and Lady Melosina Adelaide Meade, on 22 June 1832.2 He died on 15 June 1864 at age 57.1
He was styled as Viscount Acheson.3 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for County Armagh between 1830 and 1847.1 He was created 1st Baron Acheson of Clancairney, co. Armagh [U.K.] on 18 September 1847.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Baronet Acheson, of Gosford, co. Haddington [N.S., 1628] on 27 March 1849.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Earl of Gosford [I., 1806] on 27 March 1849.3 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Worlingham of Beccles, co.
