     He was educated at Central Academy, Prince Edward Island, Canada.1 He was Governor at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.1 He was Governor at Montreal General Hospital, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.2 He was Director of the Bank of Montreal.1 He was appointed Knight in 1898.1 He lived at Montreal, Quebec, Canada.1

     Roderick Charles Macdonald was the son of John Macdonald, 8th of Glenaladale and Catherine Macdonald.2 He married Elizabeth Ranaldson Macdonell, daughter of Colonel Alexander Ranaldson Macdonell, 15th of Glengarry and Rebecca Forbes, on 25 July 1839 at St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2,3 He died in 1854 at Greece.1
     He gained the rank of Army Officer.1 He lived at Prince Edward Island, Canada.1

Alexander Macdonnell, 15th of Glengarry 2
     Colonel Alexander Ranaldson Macdonell, 15th of Glengarry was born on 15 September 1771.2,3 He was the son of Duncan Macdonell, 14th of Glengarry and Marjory Grant.3 He married Rebecca Forbes, daughter of Sir William Forbes of Monymusk, 6th Bt. and Elizabeth Hay, on 20 January 1802 at Kilmonivaig, Inverness-shire, ScotlandG.3,4 He died on 17 January 1828 at age 56.3
     He succeeded as the 5th Lord Macdonell [Scotland, 1716] on 11 July 1788, Jacobite.3 He was educated at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.3 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court in 1797.3 In 1798 he killed Lieutenant Macleod, The Black Watch, in a duel.3 At Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, he was tried in Edinburgh but acquitted.3 He always wore the dress, and followed the style of living of his ancestors. His character was drawn in Sir Walter Scott's Waverley as ‘Fergus MacIvor.3' He lived at Glengarry, Inverness-shire, ScotlandG.3
