John Warwick Hives, 2nd Baron Hives was born on 26 November 1913.1 He was the son of Ernest Hives, 1st Baron Hives and Gertrude Ethel Warwick.2 He married, firstly, Olwyn Protheroe Llewellin in 1937.1 He married, secondly, Gladys Mary Seals, daughter of Alfred Seals, in 1972.1 He died on 8 October 1997 at age 83, without issue.1
He was educated at Derby School, Derby, Derbyshire, England.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Hives, of Duffield, co. Derby [U.K., 1950] on 24 April 1965.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyshire in 1967.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1989.1
