Colonel Charles Erroll Hope was born on 8 April 1837.1 He was the son of Major William Hope and Stratyra Livedostro.2 He married Helen Rae Colt, daughter of John Hamilton Colt, on 19 April 1865.1 He died on 9 January 1920 at age 82.1
He gained the rank of Colonel in the 2nd Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers.1
