     David Boyle Hope was born on 21 August 1833.1 He was the son of James Hope and Elizabeth Boyle.2 He married Letitia Augusta Crofton, daughter of Arthur Burgh Crofton, on 19 April 1863.1 He died on 9 September 1896 at age 63.1
     He was a practising Advocate.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Roxburgh, Berwick and Selkirk.1

     Letitia Augusta Crofton was the daughter of Arthur Burgh Crofton.2 She married David Boyle Hope, son of James Hope and Elizabeth Boyle, on 19 April 1863.1 She died on 14 September 1896.1
     From 19 April 1863, her married name became Hope.

     Lt.-Col. James Arthur Hope was born on 21 January 1865.1 He was the son of David Boyle Hope and Letitia Augusta Crofton.2 He married Geraldine Lucy Robertson, daughter of Reverend Charles Hope Robertson, on 17 April 1895.1 He died on 2 March 1925 at age 60.1
     He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Zoological Society (F.Z.S.) (Scotland.)1 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.)1 He was a practising Writer to the Signet (W.S.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Army Service Corps (TA Reserves.)1
