     James Louis Hope was born on 31 January 1906.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. James Arthur Hope and Geraldine Lucy Robertson.² He married Kathleen Colquhoun Sconce, daughter of Henry Archibald Kerr Sconce, on 5 June 1939.¹ He died on 25 October 1995 at age 89.¹
