     Lt.-Col. Sir William Howley Goodenough was born on 5 April 1833.1 He was the son of Reverend Edmund Goodenough and Frances Cockerell.2 He married Countess Anna Kinsky Kinsky, daughter of Count Eugene Kinsky, on 1 September 1874.1 He died on 24 October 1898 at age 65.1
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the Royal Artillery.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Cape Town.1

     From 1 September 1874, her married name became Goodenough.

     From 5 September 1898, her married name became Soltau-Symons.
