     Sir Edmund Castell Bacon, 13th and 14th Bt. was born on 18 March 1903.2 He was the son of Sir Nicholas Henry Bacon, 12th and 13th Bt. and Constance Alice Leslie-Melville.2 He married Priscilla Dora Ponsonby, daughter of Colonel Sir Charles Edward Ponsonby, 1st Bt. and Hon. Winifred Marian Gibbs, on 15 January 1936.2 He died on 30 September 1982 at age 79.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Norfolk in 1939.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 55th (Suffolk Yeomanry) Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery (Terrirorial Army.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Norfolk in 1944.2 He succeeded as the 13th Baronet Bacon, of Redgrave, co. Suffolk [E., 1611] on 1 January 1947.2 He succeeded as the 14th Baronet Bacon, of Mildenhall, co. Suffolk [E., 1627] on 1 January 1947.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk between 1949 and 1982.2 He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.)2 He was chairman of British Sugar Corporation between 1957 and 1968.2 He was Honorary Colonel of the 308 (Suffolk and Norfolk Yeomanry) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery between 1961 and 1967.2 He held the office of Pro-Chancellor of East Anglia University between 1964 and 1973.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1965.2 He was chariman of Agricultural North East Development Council between 1966 and 1982.2 He was director of Lloyds Bank.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1970.2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3
