     Barry Francis Lyttelton Denny was born on 6 June 1928.1 He is the son of Rev. Sir Henry Lyttelton Lyster Denny, 7th Bt. and Joan Lucy Dorothy Denny.2 He married, firstly, Gertrude Tamara Jex, daughter of Harry Carnet Jex, on 8 December 1951.1 He and Gertrude Tamara Jex were divorced in 1968.1 He married, secondly, Anne Rosemary Jordon White, daughter of Colonel James Frederick White, on 9 April 1969.3
     Barry Francis Lyttelton Denny was educated at Clayesmore School, Iwerne Minster, Dorset, England.1 He gained the rank of Cadet in 1946 in the service of the Indian Army.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England, Clayesmore and RMA Sandhurst.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1949 in the service of the Royal Artillery.1 He retired from the military in 1960, with the rank of Temporary Major.3 He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1962 and 1989.3 He was invested as a Lieutenant, Royal Victorian Order (L.V.O.) in 1979.1 He was decorated with the award of Commander Order of St. Olav of Norway in 1981.3 He lived in 2003 at Tudor House, Broadwindsor, Dorset, England.1
