     Dorothy Petrie Townshend was born on 8 May 1895.1 She was the daughter of Colonel George Robert Townshend and Petrie Wisdom.2 She married Major Robert John Henry Carew, son of Lt.-Col. Robert Thomas Carew and Constance Charlotte Mary Creagh, on 25 July 1936.1 She died on 3 February 1968 at age 72.1
     From 25 July 1936, her married name became Carew. She wrote the book Many Years, Many Girls.1

     Major Robert John Henry Carew was born on 7 June 1888.2 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Robert Thomas Carew and Constance Charlotte Mary Creagh.2 He married, firstly, Leila Vernon Macan, daughter of Sir Arthur Vernon Macan, on 3 April 1915.2 He married, secondly, Dorothy Petrie Townshend, daughter of Colonel George Robert Townshend and Petrie Wisdom, on 25 July 1936.1
     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the First World War in 1914.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1917.2 He gained the rank of Brevet Major in the 1st Battalion, Dublin Fusiliers.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) in 1919.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1920.2 He gained the rank of Deputy Assistant Quartermaster-General in the 27th Division.2 He lived at Ballinamona Park, County Waterford, IrelandG.1

     Frances Dorothea Townshend was born on 17 August 1839.1 She was the daughter of Samuel Philip Townshend and Frances Helena Newman.2 She married Major John Crewe Chetwode Townsend, son of Horatio Townsend and Henrietta Margaret Chetwode, on 14 April 1869.2 She died on 7 February 1917 at age 77.2
     From 14 April 1869, her married name became Townsend.2
