     William Richard Le Fanu was born on 9 July 1904.1 He is the son of Thomas Philip Le Fanu and Florence Sophia Mabel Sullivan.2,3 He married Elizabeth Violet Maconchy, daughter of Gerald Edward Campbell Maconchy, on 23 April 1930.1
     William Richard Le Fanu was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from King's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was invested as a Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.).1 He was Librarian of the Royal College of Surgeons.1 He wrote the book Betsy Sheridan's Journal.1 He wrote the book A Bio-bibliography of Edward Jenner.1 He was President of the Huguenot Society between 1956 and 1959.1 He lived in 1976 at Shottesbrook, Boreham, Chelmsford, Essex, England.1

     Elizabeth Violet Maconchy is the daughter of Gerald Edward Campbell Maconchy.2 She married William Richard Le Fanu, son of Thomas Philip Le Fanu and Florence Sophia Mabel Sullivan, on 23 April 1930.1
     Elizabeth Violet Maconchy was registered as a Associate, Royal College of Music (A.R.C.M.).1 From 23 April 1930, her married name became Le Fanu.1 She was a distinguished composer.1 She was Chairmam of the Composers Guild of Great Britain in 1960.1
