     Barbara Johnstone is the daughter of James Johnstone of Elphinstone and Margaret Ruthven.2,1 She married, firstly, John Haldane, 9th of Gleneagles, son of John Haldane, 7th of Gleneagles and Elizabeth Lundin.1 She married, secondly, David Hume of Godscroft after 1591.1
     Her married name became Haldane.1 From after 1591, her married name became Hume.1
